A little Scottish ski history
Originally called White Corries, Glencoe became Scotland’s first commercial ski area when an overhead ski lift was built on Meall a’ Bhuiridh in 1956. Today’s family photographs sit against a landscape with decades of mountain-sport history.
Glencoe Mountain Resort · About us ↗A landscape with a dramatic backstory
The wider glen owes its shape to ancient volcanic activity followed by the work of glaciers. The National Trust for Scotland describes Glencoe as a volcanic landscape later sculpted during the Ice Age.
