More to the place.
More to discover.
Researched background and planning context, separate from our original caption.
The cliffs really are giants
The Canary Islands’ official visitor site describes Los Gigantes as basalt cliffs rising to around 600 metres in Santiago del Teide. That is the broad landscape context for this album, rather than a measurement of the arch in the photograph.
Hello Canary Islands · Los Gigantes Cliffs ↗A name with some drama
The same official visitor account records the Guanche name for the cliffs as “Hell’s Wall”. Los Gigantes itself means “the giants”—a name that makes sense when you see the scale of the coast.
